What to do with the (shuttered) Lincoln Theater (cont'd)

The Wednesday night forum on the Lincoln Theater yielded lots of ideas but not that magic combination of inspiration plus perspiration; ideas AND the money to back them up.

At a meeting of about thirty people, ideas included:  a nonprofit future for the theater, and a privately owned community-funded theater.  A third proposal came from an architectural artist who said he was there to get information for a California investor, whom he declined to identify.  Real Estate agent/city councilman Dan Gase, who is handling the sale of the former Lincoln Theater, did not attend Wednesday night's meeting and has not returned inquiring phone calls.

How about a visitor center/museum with a local and Native and eco theme with an entrance to a future yet to be spruced up and capitalize on underground tour?

We could afford to do something like that in this city. People could sell things and eat down there! There could be an underground passage to the new aquarium! How cool would that be, going from a frontier town underground complete with a "cave themed" restaurant etc. to a below sea level viewing area at the marine life center?

As far as climate change and rising sea levels we can deal with that and minimize the effects downtown and we have time to do it. Nothing lasts forever and lets have some fun and do some good while we're here! So, lets git to it, giddy up!

the price is too high to do anything "for profit". It's too high for anything "non profit". The old greedy buzzard who put it up for $260k is an ass, and yet another example of how old white men are screwing the generations after them.

"The School Board delayed a decision on a transgender student policy, which is required by the state, after hearing protests from an OVERFLOW CROWD Thursday night." - PDN

I'm figuratively speechless. I'm so glad Inslee won. I'll miss small town life.

Bigotry and racism are alive and well in Port Angeles.

If people really want to understand why Port Angeles is withering away, just listen to the "overflow crowd" that showed up at the school board meeting.

One expected to hear "Get a rope".

Port Angeles Residents Say "Intolerance" is their "culture".

" Opponents told the board that the policy represents unacceptable mandates and that the board should refuse to enact it.

“The board is being held hostage by the federal government by a mandate that is wrong,” said Darryl Wood of Port Angeles.

Wood said the transgender law is “against our culture, and accelerates the war against the middle class.”

He was one of 15 who spoke against district approval of a transgender policy, while more than 40 people filled seats and spilled out into the hallway as they cheered and applauded opposition speakers."

I hope this is sent far and wide. Shame on Port Angeles.

Our city is bankrupt, only they won't admit it, and keep chasing grant money to balance the books.

The last thing we need is to fritter away city money for a
"visitor center/museum".

Who goes to these things, anyway?
What visitors?
