New City Manager for Port Angeles

Kent Myers of Hot Springs, Arkansas has been selected by the City Council as Port Angeles’ next City Manager. He’ll be sworn in next Tuesday, assuming the City Council approves his contract. He’ll take over the position on January 12th from interim City Manager Jerry Osterman.

The City Council hasn’t released any information on Myers’ salary or other perks. They’ll make this information public next Tuesday when they give final approval to his contract.

Let’s hope the severance package isn’t TOO attractive.

Judging by what the paper said, he's going to get paid way too much money anyway, in my mind.

I don't think that those that 'serve' us should get any kind of a severance package, other than the accrued vacation pay they have coming to them.

I got up one morning determined to fix everything, then came to the realization that because I'm a peaceful man and have no bombs I can fix nothing.

I damn sure can't do it with one crummy vote, especially when I get stuck for voting for who I hope is the lessor of two evils.

Or who I think it's most likely will get caught having sex with another monkey on a White House couch cuz, damnit, we deserve some entertainment for our tax dollars.

Wally world has bombs, if you know what to buy, so dont let that stop you dude.

But you seem rather random dude, probably more of a danger to yourself than anyone else. How do you get from a PA city manager to hanky panky in a broom closet of the White House anyway? And as far as that goes, if a new virgin a week makes for sane decision making, we should get some vestal types on the .gov payroll.

Shouldn't that all be wrapped up before hiring?

It's like it says on my coffee cup.

I'M SURROUNDED BY FUCKIN' IDIOTS

I think that it’s nonsense that the city planner of a small city should make almost as much as a president that is running a whole county. They’re expecting a small working population to pay those sort of wages? For what? A planner that thinks a city has to keep growing bigger to be healthy and prosperous?

I disagree, a wise city planner would call for a moratorium on growth and better distribution of the wealth. If all you want is growth just hire a damn real-estate agent. I contend that there must be a ‘good old boy/gal’ that was born and raised here that could help plan this city better than any overpaid outsider.

Someone with sense enough to not want to see the city get any bigger, to hang on to the country ways. Looking into my crystal ball and the big picture I don’t see this town getting much bigger no matter how much money you throw at it. And I’m thankful for that, there is too much riff raff here now. Arguably a lot of it was born and raised here but more isn’t going to improve things a bit.

Too many mouth-breathers in this town...you know, the ones who look stupified and have their mouths hangin' open.
And I keep seein' that stinky guy who has the wild gray hair, missing teeth and one eye closed...is he a friend of yours, Billy?

His severance package is probably a lot higher than the median annual wage in this town. Too bad we can't vote on this.

As I understand it, the C.M. really runs the city, and the Mayor is sort of a figurehead. Why do we need both? The City Council gets paid a "nominal" salary -- I think $500 a month. The new Director of the Downtown Association gets $50K per year plus benefits. Add all that up, and you know damn well why we can't have the swimming pool.

The monkeys took over the zoo a long time ago. We're lucky to get the occasional peanut.

$50K to preside over all the businesses going under? $50K to publish a silly monthly newsletter? $50K to sit in an office on Laurel Street and send out numerous emails reminding people what day of the week it is?

Abolish the PADA!
