Colonel Hudson's to Add Indoor Dining

Colonel Hudson's, the popular takeout-only restaurant at 536 Marine Drive in Port Angeles (the former location of Smitty's and then Mickey's), will soon have indoor dining available.  The owners, Malik Atwater and his wife, Vivian Wai, are hoping to have their renovations complete by late January.

Geez! All I heard on the news was how great consumer spending has been, this holiday season.

Well tell us why it's called that, please.

Haven't had a chance to go there yet but sounds like I should make it happen. Good luck to these two folks, they sound like great people.

I'm sure I'll stick with the Corner House most of the time.

I can tell you that their food is very very tasty. It will be nice to sit inside to enjoy it rather than sit in your car or stand on the sidewalk.

Great move for sure.

See you all there......

i think they are nice people there, fish and chips are great but the burgers are pretty soupy. Although, i get evil looks when i ask for more napkins, maybe they were low. As a small business owner in PA i have to wonder how they have the money to close so often and expand as well...while i as most business owners struggle, maybe i should be selling burgers....So while their closed and we are talking about interesting small businesses come check out the great made to order sandwiches at the Caffeinated Clothier which is a traditional coffee house in the spirit of being a social hub for the town not just a place for a cup of joe. With conversations of interest like many of the ones on here. Though the coffee is amazing! If i do say so myself (and yes this is my business) We also have locally designed and made merchandise, consignments and clothing alterations...

Tom...I have to object to commercial plugs by business owners being allowed here. To me that's WAY out of order.

i just figured that promoting local small business in a forum that already was, is appropriate. Any time we can convince people to frequent any local business over a non local promotes circulating money locally and helps the economy for everyone that lives in Port Angeles. I was not sure Tom would print my comment but I like that he seems to allow freedom of non attacking speech in many forms. Tom has many deep threads to read in here and since the title of this thread was promoting a local business one could assume you might find that if you looked further into the topic even though it is more trivial that the topics he normally broaches. Sorry if my promotion offended any one. That was not my intention.

I agree with you, anami, this thread was discussing a local business expansion. Of course it was appropriate to mention another local business. Sheesh!

Tom seems to have a journalist's neutrality in that he posts what people write - but come on - let them *advertise* elsewhere. There is enough yellow journalism already in the rag newspaper.

I'm not impressed with Colonel Hudson. The frying is uneven, the onion rings hard as rocks, and the burgers not just soupy, but really nothing special. I tried it 3 or 4 times, it was closed the first half dozen times I went there (who knew a business could do that? Oh wait. It's PA).
I continue to be under-whelmed by any food in the area. What is it about bland "sysco" and "fsa" and probably rewarmed Costco food that people get all excited about around here. Bland, boring. Too expensive, careless, poorly prepared for too high a price.
And, the idea of another coffee shop? eh. Don't care. Clothing with coffee? Pass.

Jackson, you've been in the area too long. Define "tasty"?

the joke of it is that small businesses will not get plugged in the local paper unless they also buy ads. The ads cost too damn much because the newspaper is crazy. They really try and tell you that three people read every edition of the printed rag. No. Maybe the new owners will lower the ad costs, but I doubt it.
