Log Exports Expected to Drop Next Year

Log exports from the North Olympic Peninsula are expected to total 80 million board feet by the end of this year.  But because of credit restrictions in China plus a backlog of timber, log exports for 2012 are projected to be around 65 million board feet.

But the city leaders think things are going to start booming around here. Right, if they're not careful with your money in a few years this place will look like and be as broke as DETROIT.

Maybe they'll tear down half the town like they did in Detroit. Let's hope it's all in a row and not every other building like in downtown

On the bright side property values will go down and this should reduce our property taxes.

That's just fine with me, I've never bought property thinking it should be worth more in the future.

Property is just a way to define my space on this screwed up rock.

Maybe they won't have to install stop lights and crosswalks to keep all the throngs of tourists on the new Waterfront Esplanade from getting runover by the log trucks.

It's going to get tough, ya'all. The everyday citizens will need solidarity. Maybe that's a good thing; maybe it will finally unite Clallam County into a community of neighbors.
