Twelve Applicants for Port of Port Angeles Position
There are twelve applicants for the vacant commissioner position with the Port of Port Angeles. This is the position that's being vacated by Jim McEntire, who will soon be sworn in as a new Clallam County commissioner.

Thank you, Darlene, for your letter in today's PDN regarding the recent overflow of sewage into the Strait.
I promise you that very soon the city council will be in a postion to eliminate the two obstructions (i.e. Meyers and Cutler)to rectifying the sewage overflow issue.
Didn't see the letter, but I'm sure look forward to Myers and Cutler being gone. MAYBE, for once in a long time in Port Angeles, a more rational approach to government will prevail.
And, that stupid, expensive sewage overflow project will be stopped, and a more rational, less expensive approach adopted.
Why does the Port think it is appropriate to keep secret the names of the 12 applicants for the open position? That sounds like a lot of backroom bad faith going on, in addition to an outright violation of Open Government laws. Business as usual for the Port, unfortunately.
Somebody needs to challenge the secrecy of the process.
What's with the secrecy about who applied for the vacant position? I don't think any of the applicants did so with the expectation that their candidacy would be kept secret.
I smell an insider deal going on behind closed doors.
Hum...

can you clarify this Watcher?
Anime -
I'm hopeful that Watcher has some solid indication that there will be enough votes on the 2012 city council to hold Cutler and his boss (or is it Myers and his boss Cutler??/!!) accountable. In the opinion of many, the quickest path to a more accountable Port Angeles would be to fire both of them.
We can hope.
So - who are the twelve applicants?
PDN - have you filed a Public Disclosure Request for this information? If not, why not?

Ummm.. Because the PDN has shown us all year after year they have no interest in investigative journalism, just parroting what that special little circle of people who run things here in Port Angeles tell them to print.
How much evidence do ya need? So many of us submit letters, information and story ideas on the problems in Port Angeles, but it all gets ignored. Nothing but the "party line" gets printed.
Might as well move to Syria; at least there these days, SOME media are independent!
