Smart Meter Project Delayed

The City's smart meter project was originally supposed to be completed by this past January.  But few homes have had them installed.  There have been problems in ensuring proper communication between the computers at City Hall and the equipment in the field.

Not surprising that this project is not going well. Look who is in charge: Glenn & Larry and their minions. They have delusions of grandeur, but no skills to match --- except skills for selecting extravagant unnecessary projects and wasting huge amounts of public money.
Fire them! Taking that action is WAAAAAY overdue.

Smart meters may be a good idea, if you know how to outsmart your meter to reduce your bill.

Those "Smart Meters" are more about the utility making more money, than anything else. They can charge more during the "high use" periods, saying it is an incentive for people to change their habits. But the reality is that people use the power then, because they have to. Most have to be at work or school at a particular time, and get home at a particular time.

So, the utility lays off people that used to read meters, charges more per unit, all the while looking good!

Is anybody concerned about City Hall being able to monitor in real-time exactly when you are using electricity? They'd know when you are sleeping, they'd know when you're awake, they'd know when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!
Also: How difficult would it be for someone with a criminal mind to drive through a neighborhood, intercept the smart meter signals, and figure-out the houses were nobody is home?

Does this have anything to do with the City wanting to create a new Telecommunication Utility (on the agenda for the March 5 council meeting)? The new Utility would be "outsourced" to a private company that would control all of the wireless telecommunication facilities in the city. Does this seem like a good idea?

Creating a new utility - one that would be under the control of Glenn Cutler - would NOT be a good or smart idea. It would, however, provide a good forum for the city to waste even more taxpayer money, AND generate more ill-will.

And, who do you think will be the primary beneficiary of this new "Telecommunications" scam? Maybe an adress up on 8th street?

Anyone with any smarts will get the hell out of this ****** town.

Glenn Cutler in charge of out-sourcing city services to private consultants ---- now THAT's a formula for fiscal responsibility!
Speaking of which - Guess which private firm will be doing the city's bazillion dollar engineering consulting for the Lauridsen Bridge replacement? Multi-million dollar over-runs on their previous city projects (Gateway; 8th Street Bridges) doesn't disqualify them, apparently, from getting more city work.

Speaking of that Lauridsen Bridge replacement, dontcha just LOVE the way the city proceeds with it's plans to create Race and Lauridsen as the Hwy 101 truck route around downtown Port Angeles? The Bridge project is part of that, to enlarge it so it can be part of the new truck route.

And, when were the public hearings on this? Major traffic revisions, affecting local businesses, residential areas, schools, churches, playing fields and more, but the city proceeds with it's "one brick at a time" approach, until there is no turning back, once people become aware of what is going on.

Sleazy town.

Hi, Dick...I see you did your last post on the KONP website (http://www.konp.com/local/7732) at 6:38AM this morning, right before you posted this. Amazing how childish a man of your advanced years can be...
