"Transition Town" Status for Port Angeles
Port Angeles City Councilwoman Sissi Bruch and Sequim resident Dave Taylor want Port Angeles to become a Transition Town. There are 114 transition towns in the United States.
A transition town is a community that strives to make itself a model for finding new ways to deal with global issues at the local level. These issues include energy crises, climate change and economic shifts.

More accurately to say they want the TITLE, "Transition Town".
Sounds like another way to subvert the will of the people, like Michigan's new (unconstitutional)town manager laws
I had understood Port Angeles to be a Federal city like D.C.
Is this No longer the case?
If not, when and how did this change take place.
Thanks.
Gotta love it when teabaggers attempt sarcasm.
Transition town, hahahaha.

Never fear, soon there will be thousands of them and the competition will be great.
Silly monkeys...

Yes, How silly. Why would any sensible person look at changing events and try to adapt to them. That HAS to be the definition of "stupid"!
Maybe Port Angeles' new slogan: "Change? What? Me worry?"
I didn't say we shouldn't adapt, but it is silly to make a big deal out of it as if it is going to bring more money here.
Why would any sensible person think they must have their town declared a " transition town" to make changes to adapt to new conditions?
Keep your eyes on the shiny object now...
I thought this alreadyWAS a transvestite town?
Ladyboys
"Why would any sensible person think they must have their town declared a " transition town" to make changes to adapt to new conditions?"
Because there are towns in America like Port Angeles that see change in any form as a bad thing. Those that DO see adapting to the inevitable changes have to make some kind of a big deal out of it, so that the marginally intelligent can see there is a choice.
No hope for the regressives and hillbillies. They will continue to be societys' dragging anchors.
They might as well be arguing that the world is flat, for all their rhetoric.
I'll see this as a " transition town" when I see a lot of windmills and solar panels.
And fewer fancy SUV's.
Awesome. And how much is THIS scheme going to cost us before being abandoned?

Don't hold yer breath. Remember, this is Port Angeles. We fight against anything and everything that even smells of "good" or "progress".
Port Angeles continues to be the backwaters of modern society for a reason. Even communities in third world nations are ahead of Port Angeles.
Don't change anything now, we've got it good.
There are actually quite a few residents behind the transition movement the mullers group has joined forces with Sissi and Dave. A transition town is not something that comes down from city government but rather up from the people, grass roots. Its about making posative changew with an eye for the future. Whether the city staff and government are behind it or not. Your online, google it and be informed before you decide to be just another naysayer opposing just to oppose. Lets stop foing nothing and make this the city we WANT to live in.
Port Angeles city plans D.C. visit to request continued Hurricane Ridge Road funds.
No point in doing things like that online through telecommuting or through other channels when you can take a nice trip at taxpayers expense.
Cherie loves rubbing elbows with other 'important' monkeys, and luxeruy, she won't be staying in a Motel 6. :-)
Did you see that ridiculous story in the PDN about Kidd and Myers going to DC to lobby to keep Hurricane access year 'round?
Cherie claims it is our "right" to have access mid-week. Before, the roads were kept plowed to keep access on weekends and holidays.
Quoting lame duck City Manager Kent Myers, who said one of the three things that contributed to the continuing lack of success in attracting more visitors: Time. That as time passes more people will find out about the opportunity to drive 100 miles or more mid-week to play in the snow, and the visitor numbers will grow.
But, the visitor numbers went down, as time passed. So, what is Myers learning from the actual numbers? Say the opposite of what actually happening.
So, he and the Mayor will fly to DC to lobby for money? What a complete waste of time and money.
Hey Pappy, maybe WE should git US some of that there .....re-form!
Me thinks the government is going to be more concerned about where to get the money to help those storm damaged areas fixed up rather than caring about a high mountain road being open.
Maybe these 'leaders' should be paid for what they produce.
"If you come back with money we'll reimburse you for the trip, if not the trip is on you."
This is a just plain stupid issue. It is not an "either/or". The damned road WAS kept open during the most important times, weekends and holidays. These idiots are trying to say it is SO important the road be kept plowed during WEEKDAYS! In the winter months!
This is "make work" in order to spend taxpayers' money for no real return.
Talk about not being in touch with what is really going on!
