In the internet era, being able to poll like this could breathe some life into newspapers' bank accounts and how they can appeal to advertisers. Wow. I'd like to see all the data for sure - I bet that is expensive to see!! That would be quite useful info! Especially the "worst of". Like if you were the worst realtor in town, I'd want the PDN to tell me - WITH email addresses - lol - extra expensive. Or if I were the third worst... Wow, what info! At least the PDN is still owned by a local family, pretty sure. Whew.

And Churches? What's up with churches and preachers not being on the "list"? I bet the "worst" church in town would be interesting! We don't have a mosque, and most of our fringe churches have closed, so I wonder what it would be? Maybe we could just write in "worst religion", and then also, "worst Christian denomonination", and "worst Protestant denomination", etc.?

If I were young, I'd study "social network" marketing (online of course, duh) and get an entry level job at the local paper. So much info out there to be sorted through - info that would so useful for local businesses or tiny startups even in end of the road dumps like this.

@ Anon 11:67 If I remember correctly, the PDN was sold to a Canadian media group a year or so ago.

Hadn't thgought of this as a info gathering effort before. Figured it was just another way the PDN tries to generate interest and sales in an otherwise very slow market.

So I downloaded the July/Aug edition of OutdoorsNW today. It's a free publication dealing with... well, getting outdoors in the Northwest. Hiking, biking, rockclimbing, kayaking, what have you.

Lot of places in the NW have ads in this magazine. There's a lot of places that look really nice and relaxing to visit. Sequim has an ad. Kind of a "if you're biking the Discovery Trail, visit Sequim in the center of the trail". There are three happy bicyclists at what looks like Railroad Park.

There's an ad for Port Angeles in there too. You want to know what it says? Land for sale. That's right, in a magazine that's mostly a tourist brochure for outdoor types, someone with a Seattle number is selling 9,000 sq ft residential. And that's the only ad for Port Angeles.

Something seems wrong with this... Oh well. Desolation Peak looks nice...

You know why there are no ads for Port Angeles (other than for real estate). The city doesn't really want any tourism. Doesn't believe in it.

If you've attended any of the meetings of the business community in Port Angeles, you will know they want INDUSTRY.

So, go somewhere else, other than Port Angeles, if you want to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Port Angeles doesn't need to advertise in a tourist magazine because it is the "Authentic Northwest!"

We need more smokestack industries along the waterfront in Port Angeles, for Port Angeles to grow. Tell the Port of Port Angeles to leave the smokestack at Pen Ply standing. The next industry to lease that site will need it.

Yesterday, a fine young local man was sentenced to three months in jail for selling meth while having a loaded shot gun. Which reminded me, where is the best place to buy ammo?
