Widow of Mountain Goat Goring to Appeal Court Ruling

Susan Chadd, widow of Bob Boardman, who was gored to death by a mountain goat in Olympic National Park in 2010, has already had her negligence lawsuit dismissed by a federal court.  But now she has filed an appeal to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in federal District Court in Tacoma.  Her attorney,
Steve Bulzomi, said:

“We are appealing because we would like the 9th Circuit to reverse the decision.  What we base the appeal on will be revealed when we file our first brief.”

All righty then...

Bullshit like this is what inspires the teaparty. This is a WIN WIN for them, bullshit like this. Bleed the government dry, make people hate lawyers and the legal system more, give the local knuckle draggers hope that someday the park will be forced out of "business" by making it financially liable for what all the critters do.

Like the critters are on some rampage...please.

Speaking of wildlife on the rampage, seems like aggressive driving has gone down in Port Angeles this week? Like way down? Like it does in other places, each time pot becomes more legal? Sure, some drivers are baked out there, but doesn't less blood on the streets mean SOMETHING?

Local law thought we would be different and go crazy. Morons.

What happened to Bob was an unfortunate accident. What Susan Chadd is doing is ridiculous. I wish all the ills of the world upon her. Her attempt to profit from her husband's death is disgusting.

We love the natural environment, and want to protect it, until something happens.

Risk exists in everything we do. Bob's death is a sad thing, no question. But protracted litigation does not bring him back.

What I despise are the ignorant fucks who are spewing ignorant, ugly hate in these comments. It's the web at its worst.

And it's not helped by your "All righty then..", Tom. Shame on you. Learn the deep facts of the case before you knee-jerk.

@ 3:43 PM, the fact that you posted as anonymous discounts anything you have to say on this particular subject.

The park is there for the critters, not the monkeys that want to fuck around in it with them.

He screwed up, deal with it. I'm not being hateful, just factual.

It's like something John Wayne said in a movie, it went something like, "I won't mourn for him, he had a good life and died doing what he wanted to do."

Hey, Anon. 3:43 PM, December 13, 2012...FUCK YOU. Yeah, YOU. I believe I know enough of the facts of the case - and I knew Bob, AND I know Susan. Bob would NEVER have wanted her to do this. So fuck her, and fuck you.

There are many good reasons for posting anonymously. I'll leave it to you to think of them, @bbc.

Your presumed facts are as fucked up as comments you've spewed on this blog over time. Those comments are at best spastic, and mostly tinged with smug, self-centered ugliness. You like hearing yourself ramble pathetically.

You're a classic troll. I wouldn't expect you or any bigmouth like you to understand let alone comment intelligently on the facts of this case even if they were spelled out and staring you in the face.

I won't ask you to shut your face on this because I know that has no chance of happening. But see if you can summon an ounce of respect for something serious and very personal for which you clearly don't understand the details. Think about that for a minute. Have some humility if you can. That's all I got on this. Troll away.

The goats just need ionized water. Makes animals much less aggressive, they say. Trouble is, getting the water up to the ridge, before the two hour window. It's just no good after that! Sucks! Those poor goats. Ionized water also makes mating go MUCH easier, they say. This will make those billy goats function so much better, and make them calmer.

I mean, all the urine issues with them? Must be messed up PH systems! I mean, come on! Don't you see! If you have a hankering for urine, your PH must be messed up!

Maybe the park service can install little watering troughs with their own water ionizers. Seems only fair. After all, they are installing them in houses in the area. So cheap, too.

The fact is he CHALLENGED the goat.

PROVOKED the goat.

But not for this simple fact I would have some sympathy for her
situation.

He accepted responsibility when he CHALLANGED the goat.

The simple fact is he provoked the goat and the outcome wasn't what he expected.

All he had to do was turn around and walk away but no, he had to show that goat who was the king of the mountain.

Well guess what.

I wonder if this trend towards "I'm right, you're wrong, and you're a (fill in with appropriate curse word or insult)because you have a differing view than mine" type of commenting is new?

Is it a product of the ease with which one can post views on the 'net? Or is it the product of the "FoxNews" style of "news-entertainment"? The Ann Coulter style of insulting anyone with a view of the world different than hers?

As I hear about the shooting in Connecticut, I wonder if this black or white type of thinking contributes to those who feel they have to impose their views and actions upon others.

When the "rights to free expression" are taken to extremes.

While it is a trueism that the less confident one is in the strength of their position, the louder and cruder it is that they deliver it, oftentimes these old saying are right. This applies equally to right wing AND left wing fanatics!

The government needs to keep us safe! From the one in a million mean goat and the six to ten autistic loners that will murder in the next decade! Just like they are spewing, I mean saying, on Fox news - that we have now had the "9/11 of schools" - and THEY ALL realized, the smarties over there, that MORE GUNS are the answer! INSTANTLY! IT IS SO OBVIOUS! Schools are the new airports! It is so obvious!

Armed guards in all schools now! At least in conservative, gun toting areas! Yippee!

We really DO need an open season on those things. And more shooting ranges around here, to practice. And gun stores with a better selection of cheap, foreign semi-automatics since times are tough. Those goats are FAST! Once again, we can reclaim the park for family fun! Seriously, we need gun stores and shooting ranges that cater to families. They could rent clowns, like some of those pizza places. I know a clown in Jackson Hole, who also teaches reloading, maybe he could do a two-fer.

That's it! A new family oriented pizza chain that features clowns that teach loners how to shoot straight, and reload faster.

Did you catch the story that the Connecticut shooter used his mother's assault rifle, which she had purchased to defend herself against marauding hoards "when the economy and society collapsed"?

Or the story about Sammi Chavez, who was arrested yesterday for recruiting schoolmates to try to pack a auditorium with kids, and shoot them all?!
