Construction of New Lauridsen Bridge Could Begin Next Week
Jeremy Pozernick, city public works inspector and the city’s project manager for the Lauridsen bridge replacement, said work could begin next week on the new bridge's support piles. The sidewalks of the new bridge, like those of the new Eighth Street bridges, will be wider than those of the demolished bridge.
The project is expected to wrap up next January or February.

Who cares?
You still have a few weeks to move before the school year starts. Who wants to live in this crazy town, and raise kids in this?
8:57 AM, August 22, 2013 ...You couldn't be more correct.
I grew up here, never had a problem finding work, have tons of friends and family here - and we moved the hell outta here as soon as we decided to reproduce... I didn't return until I retired, and like Billy, am now fairly immune to the bullshit part of living in PA. Those children, raised in civilization, and now grown, thank me for that decision every time they visit. (from Seattle!)
6:57 - What? How would people on the west end return their bear cans in a timely fashion? Tell me that!
8:57 - Goat loving hermits? (goats=kids)
What a bizarre picture of the bulldozer guy with that head in front of him on the PDN website today. Looks like he's receiving something. HORRIBLE and SHAMELESS and LAZY composition for a newspaper! Forget the bugs! Why does the guy even have a baggie? Thought he was on suicide watch? Nothing against the photographer, or the people pictured, it's the editing. Guess they figure Dateline being here yesterday for the segment on bad neighbors might somehow draw more traffic to their site. Yea, right. Wait until Sept! Studies show that when a small town gets shamed, national interest in that town DOUBLES. Then Leno comes on, goes back to normal. Embarrassing.
We note that the PDN still can't bring itself to mention the replacement of the Lauridsen St bridge is an integral part of turning Race/Lauridsen into the new Hwy.101 redirected truck route.
Why?
