Animal Rights Group to Protest Animal Shelter in Forks

Steve Markwell, who runs Olympic Animal Sanctuary in Forks, will be the target of a protest by a grass roots group called Protest OAS.  Steve Markwell has provided a sanctuary for dogs that are unadoptable because of viciousness or other behavioral problems.  Most of these dogs would have been euthanized if Steve Markwell hadn't taken them in.  But he's gotten lots of negative publicity because of the dogs' overcrowded conditions.

Protest OAS will be attending a Forks town meeting tonight, and then they will march from Tillicum Park to the Forks Elks Lodge.

Steve Markwell is a thug. There's a reason he lives with feral dogs. It's the same reason that Matthew Randazzo brought him in to "help" the local Democratic Party - because Markwell's a thug and a bully.

Of course, now he's been dropped by his pal Randazzo, and is left to fend for himself against these protesters. I say shut him down. If he can't be licensed properly then it's bound to either be or become a terrible, inhumane situation. Markwell needs some oversight.

Hasn't Max Mania gotten over the Randazzos yet? Get over it Max. Move on. Bye.

All anyone has asked is to see updated pictures to prove that those shown on FB are not the realty of OAS. Many, many have offered to help--to take some of the dogs---one statement says the dogs are too dangerous..and then you read about reporters (that were allowed in and not all are) and how they were among the dogs...or you get supporters saying why don't you come help? I don't care what these dogs have done..no animal should only be fed a few times a week....

The Dems I talk to are still pretty sore about Randazzo. None of them seem to think too much of Markwell, either. But I kind of doubt any of them were part of the 18 who protested.

Gotta give Markwell credit. How many people could draw 18 protesters to Forks from out of town? Without Twilight, what else could draw 18 people to Forks period?

Max got smart, saw this town is wayyy too stoopid to do anything worth being involved in, and moved on with his life.

Unlike the morons here that continue to try to make Max any kind of relevant topic.

The morons that by their continued drivel only serve to demonstrate and prove how right Max really was.

As you said. Move on. It's over.

It's really interesting and more than a little sad how the troll-leaning people use the boogie man of Max Mania to shut down conversation on pretty much any topic. Port Angeles had problems long before Mania moved there, and will continue to have problems long after he is gone. But I fear the troll types will use him as an excuse to avoid having honest conversations about anything for the rest of their lives. Pretty sad, and painfully obvious, but...

So if one is a democrat, and a liberal democrat, and they don't like some of the local democrats, this said person is always Max?

You are a fucking troll, 1:32, 7:14. Tom shouldn't post your posts, you being so serially dishonest - it's the same thing, over and over, labeling so many "Max" and is highly annoying, and makes others not read this blog, nor post. I think you are a teabagger.

Port Angeles, in the 60s and 70s when I lived there definitely had its per capita share of xenophobes, self-promoters and small time sheisters. In those days, the jackals simply looked out for each other and nobody was the wiser. Now, with social media and the speed with which information (some real, some made up) travels, it's more challenging for them to stay stealth and play the same shell games they did in the past. But that never seems to prevent them from trying.

Bowling Joe - Thanks for chiming in! Yes, Max was a breath of fresh air. He voted against most of their stupid projects in times when we really should have been saving money - all the while being THE LIBERAL in town. My guess, is that if he had been FOR those things, or any other public project, "they" (teabaggers) would have been AGAINST them. Perhaps the teabaggers here never really planned to build these things? And that black group/consortium that runs the world, sent Max and Dale here to make sure that PA would go through with the projects that they said they wanted to do that they (the teabaggers) really weren't intending on doing?

"Local" teabaggers are WAY smarter than people like Sarah Palin. Probably all over the country. They (the smart ones that don't go into politics, except local realtor types) relish in dividing people and are just doing their job. By being "stealthy" and incredibly insane and beyond fucking annoying, sort of shows how smart they are. Thing is, they have no humor. Easy for me to spot them. They love to push buttons. Not so much for liberals. But being such fucking idiots, in this day of social media, even though they outnumber us, and have more free time, they will lose. We have to purge/educate all of the hating motherfuckers. Play their own game, sort of. Be mean to them - if calling out meanness is actually mean.

9:40 - Remove the nut hairs from your teeth, you stupid teabagger, you might feel better.

Nothing, if done with good intentions, is a wasted effort. This town is amazing and worth the effort to nullify, quiet, and run-out teabaggers like yourself.

Hey Anon 12:05 PM, November 16, 2013...How exactly is Port Angeles "amazing." Really, please do tell, because obviously many disagree with you. But I am curious about what you could find "amazing."

@ 3:59 PM....

Port Angeles has some fine points but it's not the town that is amazing, it is the area.

@Rainbows 4U

You really should look up what the Tea Party is about. (I am assuming that is what you're referencing, when you call everyone a "teabagger".)

Many of those of us that are critical of the institutionalized crony-ism that defines Port Angeles are anything BUT members of the Tea Party, and are not "conservative" in any political context.

Any, as Billy sez, the area may have good things about it, Port Angeles is a dive by most any standards. Any of my friends that visit go away with that opinion, and they don't know of all the stupid wheelings and dealings we talk about here.

I am seeing this "protest" in a whole new light. I said shame to these so called animal lover when I first heard about but what does who voted for who have to do with this? As for Forks I moved here from Montana in late May and love it. I am 65 years old and on 11/1 fell and broke my hip so many people here have helped me. I would not go to a rehab place because I have pets to care for a young man not only fed them while I was in the hospital but texted me pictures of them. I have done a lot of rescue work and when I moved here 5 born wild cats came with me, they do not know they were wild and I sure could not leave them. Forks is a great place and I love it here I only wish these fools would spend 1/3 of the time and money helping these poor dogs as they have making themselfs look like fools. The town has shown it's heart be donating food to help feed the dogs I dare others to match it. Again shame for those who are not helping care for the dogs. I have only met Steve once but he seemed to be an OK person so help or stay the hell out of Forks and let people who really care try to help these poor dogs!!!!!

I have came to the conclusion that the People who really care about the dogs are the ones that have shed light on the cruelty to those dogs being holed up in that warehouse. You know the saying, "Don't shoot the messenger". The person that has treated them that way for years is the one that needs to be removed from that position. The past volunteers that have been inside and people that have seen what has happened to the dogs ARE helping the dogs by trying to get them out of there. If he cared about them, he would let them get out & go to people that are asking for them. Unfortunately The Forks and Olympia fundraiser did not even make a dent with what that place needs for funding to operate daily. There are just way too many dogs.

Isn't it amazing that half the fucking town saw the trooper accident?

...TEABAGGERS!!!

If anyone else sees teabaggers everywhere like I do, GO NOW to the PDN website and read the comments about the "identity" being disclosed.

I don't actually know the guy, but have met him a few times. Guess I was wrong about him and instead of feeling safe as I pass through his "zone" I'll get all "local" and feel extra paranoid. So, yes, I'll jump on the bandwagon. Amazing how we THINK WE REALLY KNOW SOMEONE!!!
