I-522 and Tim Eyman Initiative Go Down in Flames

Monsanto/GMA's $22 million sleaze campaign paid off.  I-522, which would have required labeling of all GMO products, was rejected by voters.  The public was hugely in favor of this measure until the Food Syndicate smothered the state with $22 million worth of brochures, full page ads and folksy TV commercials.

I-517 also got defeated.  Apparently the public disagrees with Tim Eyman's view that there just aren't enough paid signature-gatherers accosting people in enough public places.

The SeaTac $15-per-hour minimum wage is winning so far.

Colleen McAleer defeated Del DelaBarre for Port of Port Angeles commissioner.  And the Fire District 2 levy lid lift was defeated.

This happens across the country, every election cycle.

This shows it is "Government by, for and of business". Not the people.

Unless you think democracy can actually work when the information people make their decisions upon is effectively controlled by the rich. Who has the money to run those ads on TV, etc? The average Joe?

Funny how the companies have the money to put labels on food when they see profit. "Gluten Free" "Fat Free", "Sugar Free" are there to capitalize on those who want to makes choices THEY think are important to them.

Personally, I don't buy into the whole "gluten-is-evil" thing, but I know people who think it is. The companies see that there is a market for these products, so, no question about putting labels on.

Choice. I like the ability to make my OWN choices.

I know, Very stupid. Un-American.

12:08 - You aren't un-American, just an idiot. Your friends' fad diet has nothing to do with the people who really need gluten free products. The people on fad diets, easy enough for them to avoid wheat, and most gluten. The gluten free fad will pass, and the labels will remain.

Sugar substitutes, gmos, trans fats, should all be illegal. Labels, will make the idiot masses think they are all "food", and OK, since they notice no ill effects immediately.

People like you, "buying this", "buying that", not really thinking about it, relating everything back to what the CORRECT American thinks....VOMIT. I bet your world fell apart when you learned that margarine was deadly, and you were just so confused because you were TOLD it was better than butter. Idiot.

Whew! Not too many assumptions in THAT rant, hunh?

"People like you, "buying this", "buying that", not really thinking about it, relating everything back to what the CORRECT American thinks....VOMIT."

How do you know what I buy, what I know or what I think? I guess you are so self-righteous that you can just assume your right in anything you think, with no need for facts or specifics.

Glad that works for ya.

Funny how teabaggers don't want to have anything to do with science these days, unless it's filling, cheap, and wrapped in cellophane.
