Bill Peach to run for Clallam County Commissioner

Bill Peach, a Forks resident, has announced that he will run for the Clallam County commissioner position now held by Mike Doherty, who has not said yet whether or not he is seeking re-election.  Bill Peach said:

“Next Monday, I will file to run for the office of county commissioner District 3.  I am running for county commissioner because I believe a business-friendly government can provide jobs, conserve our natural resources and preserve our culture.  I am not your typical candidate.”

As if every politician in the area, for the last 10 or more years, hasn't told us how they were going to make the area "business friendly", create jobs, and save us from ourselves.

As if the local governments haven't been spending millions of our tax money to create jobs, bring in new businesses, etc. for the last however long.

Okay, Bill. Tell us your miracle formula to do what none of all those other people, and all those many millions in tax money has failed to do. Specifically.

We eagerly await salvation.

Good morning everyone! Oh, it's so nice to get up at sunrise!

So, Captain Kouraeous and friend(s) have come to the consensus that Clallam and PA are, in fact, not right wing. This false impression, they surmise, is brought about by the fact that the (implied) "progressives" do not call out the corruption, and idiocy, and the fact that we are run now by a bunch of corrupt idiots. You see, the stupid, corrupt money grabbers, are ripping off the nice, quiet "homebody" liberal types and they are just big ol' corrupt stupid poo poo heads!

You hear that, you gay person! You black person! You Native Americans! You single mothers out there in PA! You "liberal" students! Retired military! Retired teachers! Teachers! You people at the alternate Kiwanis! TOM!!! And any other DEMOCRAT I've left out! You hear that! All the waste, blight, corruption, population shrinkage, and apathy, it's YOUR FAULT!! (blame the victim)... Go somewhere, call someone out! And ya can't say someone didn't try to organize us! We don't care, and that just proves what apathetic, disinterested, yet progressive and caring, homebodies we are!

Okay, I'll take the bait.

Let's review and summarize the situation in Port Angeles with a slightly less rhetorical approach.

Over the last number of years, residents have been appalled by actions by the City Council such as threats to shut off resident's water unless they agree to the Council's desire that they agree to be annexed into the City.

Residents have opposed a number of different proposals by the City and it's Council, among these were the fluoridation of the city's water supply. Residents went out and spent many hours knocking on doors, and collected thousands of signatures of fellow residents. The Council responded by suing the signature collectors.

Residents have been routinely ignored, and their concerns rejected by the Council.

The same group of select few have been given literally millions of tax payers money over the last 10 years, supposedly for "economic development", which has resulted in no tangible results. In fact, compared to 10 years ago, things are worse now, despite all that money spent.

In response to these insults and more, the voter turn out rate is small. Not even half of registered voters bothered to cast a ballot.

Virtually nobody bothers to show up at Council meetings.

In a "democracy", which Port Angeles and Clallam county are supposed to be operating as, who is supposed to be responsible for choosing who will fill the seats of elected positions? The voters, right?

Are we not told to solve our political problems via "the ballot box"? As in, VOTE?

That if we don't like what an elected "leader" is doing, we have the right and responsibility to "vote them out"? As in, VOTE.

So, when less than half of registered voters bother to vote, that means MOST are not.

Right?

So, who is "the victim" in this rant? Who is getting unfairly "blamed"?
