Hood Canal Sand and Gravel Throws Tantrum, Files Lawsuit

Hood Canal Sand and Gravel, thwarted in their pit-to-pier gravel operation, has filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County Superior Court against state and federal regulations which block development along the Hood Canal coastline.  When all else fails, sue.

The corporate lawyers handling this case for the gravel industry will make a lot of money, but they must know that the biggest obstacle to the pit-to-pier scheme is not environmental regs but the Navy's concern over it being a threat to submarine traffic and national defense.

Sure are a lot of comments at the PDN regarding the article about the six year old little girl that was raped and murdered in Bremerton / Kitsap County. The parents waited, according to the article, 24 hours before calling the cops after last seeing her. That's the focus of much of the angst in the FB crowd and just as much energy is going into defending the parents inattention and the fact that they waited so long.

The most serious charge that the alleged perpetrator (17 years old) is facing is 2nd degree murder. Wow. Seems to me that raping and murdering a six year old is worse (and sort of obvious that an act like that could lead to the death of the child) than "intending" to shoot or stab any random adult, and following through. This state is dysfunctional. Makes me nauseous.

Makes me wonder why people are so drawn to death and mayhem incidents.

You know. Gawkers at bad car crashes. Leading news stories about abductions, rapes and murders. As Anon 5:24 points out, lots of comments from the armchair crowd.

No one thinks these are good incidents. Of course not. They are VERY rare occurrences, and don't reflect the views of the majority. I don't think anyone believes that these types of things will become accepted.

Who wants to be in a car crash? How many people in society are murderers?

But, the news media wouldn't headline the disasters, if people were not so fascinated by it, wanting read the details, wanting the grisly photos.

With everything going on in the world, this story is deemed important.

Interesting.

I note with interest the latest PDN article quotes the various proponents as saying it is about "funding opportunities". That, with the refusal of the Down Town Assoc. to merge means the Chamber can't get it's hands on that money.

As if anyone thought it really was about anything else.
