This is a video of yesterday's beginning of the demolition of the Glines Canyon dam.

Here is a slide show.

And here is a link to this weekend's dam removal activities.

I'll miss the lakes being there but stuff happens. Maybe the fisheries will improve.

Gaia rejoices in her liberation and blesses those who have aided her in her freedom. Those that tread gently upon Gaia are blessed!

Blessed be!

What a great day! Thank you to the Lower Elwha Tribe for never giving up on the dream to see the river and the Tribe's sacred sites restored.
I look forward to the day when the river truly runs free again and the dams are gone forever.

I, like Gaia, look forward to the day when dams are gone forever, oil is a thing of the past, our lands are no longer blotted by solar panels, birds are no longer killed recklessly by windmills, our lands are safe from the constant threat posed by nuclear power and we can live in a peaceful world of green energy.

To Anonymous who doesn't like, oil, hydro, solar, nuclear, and wind energy...where the hell do you expect go get energy from? Is Gaia just going to wave her magic wand and give us all cosmic power?
Get real. Regardless of the energy source there is always going to be a negative trade-off.
