Boy oh Boy! I'll be sure to set my alarm clock for that meeting. The chance to be at a 7 am meeting to listen to Dan? That will be just SOO exciting.

OOOOH! What a wonderful opportunity for Mr. McKeen! Oh, gosh! Being in the same room with so many important community leaders! It must give him butterflies in his stomach even to contemplate it!

Nippon bringing in out of state construction workers to build biomass burner. This violates the federal Davis-Bacon wage act. Nippon received $2 million in stimulus funds and $20 million in federal tax credits to fund the project. Federal law requires they pay prevailing wage and they are in defiance of the law.

I should clarify that Nippon is paying the out of state workers a wage that is 1/3 of the prevailing wage that should have gone to support local workers.
I'm not holding my breath that the PDN will pick this story up.

What's the big fascination with importing people from the deep south to work here in Port Angeles? Nippon hires a non-union construction firm from Louisiana to build its taxpayer subsidized incinerator; some refugee from Hurricane Katrina is elevated to an influential job on the local political scene; another transplant from Louisiana is hired to head Peninsula College. At least Port Angeles had the sense this time to hire a ocal who speaks without a southern drawl.
The story goes it all started back in the 70s with the purchase of a few million "green" acres. GREEN ACRES!! ..ha ha ha.
The fact that you Libs are all foaming at the mouth over Mister McKeen's appointment as City Manager is amusing. And predictable.
Fortunately, Tom provides this forum for you to publicly air your bitterness and impotent rage.
Otherwise I don't know what you'd do. Maybe make a few anonymous phone calls or spray paint naughty slogans on the walls.
