State Auditor's Office to Review Port of Port Angeles Commissioner Resignation and Rehiring

The State Auditor's Office will be reviewing the circumstances surrounding Jeff Robb's resignation and immediate re-hiring as director of environmental affairs.  A review of port hiring and public meeting practices was already scheduled for next year sometime.  But now part of the audit will begin in September because of concerns over the Port's compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act and the Port's immediate re-hiring of Jeff Robb to a newly-created lower level position at his same $138,000 salary.  A spokesman for the State Auditor's Office said:

“You want to make sure decisions of this magnitude are made in the light of day.”

The fucking local tea party is out of control. They can't take your voting rights away, quite yet, in Olympia, like they are in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, N&S Virginia, etc., etc., but they are taking away your power, working people in Port Angeles.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

If you go to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), and look up the name "Dale Alexander Carnegie," you'll find one credit, for a straight-to-video film called "Supporting Characters." That's all. ONE credit.

Now, if you look up the 2010 "Clash of the Titans," and look at all the production credits, you won't find Mr. Carnegie's name listed. Lots of producers, executive and otherwise, but not Mr. Carnegie.

Now, if you go to the December 6th, 2011 PDN ("PA author sells another book to moviemakers" - http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20111206/news/312069994/port-angeles-author-sells-film-rights-to-second-book-also-will-share&template=printart), you'll find an article about how Dale Alexander Carnegie, the executive producer of the remake of "Clash of the Titans" has optioned a book written by Matthew Randazzo. The film will, supposedly, be called "Crossface" and Mr. Randazzo will, supposedly, be a producer of the film as well. The film was set to be released, gee, this year - 2013. All this information, naturally, was supplied to the PDN by Mr. Randazzo. Apparently the PDN doesn't know about the existence of the IMDB, and other online resources, that can be used to help verify information.

The IMDB listing for the "Crossface" project shows it as still very much unmade, and Mr. Carnegie is, of course, nowhere on the credits, or attached to the production company. The production company that doesn't even have a single credit, by the way. Not even one, like Mr. Carnegie.

In other words, when you look at how it all doesn't add up, it all sounds kind of like an investment scam. Send out a fake press release from a non-existent production company, cite a connection that doesn't actually exist to a hit movie, and try to reel in some suckers. Hmmm...

The article about Mr. Randazzo also includes other hard-to-verify Hollywood "projects" he was supposedly "involved" with. None have, apparently, come to be. Hmmm...

And THIS is the snakeoil salesman that Steve Tharinger and Kevin Van de Wege have been mentoring. This is the serial liar that they positioned in a cushy job in the DNR in Olympia. And these, in turn, are the twin rotten representatives we have for the Peninsula. Patronizing, pocket-lining protectors of liars, cheats and all things Nippon. They are not Democrats. Political affiliation means nothing to them. They are just crooks, plain and simple. They play the voters for suckers, and the voters go along with it.

And they help set policy in Olympia. They help set budgets in Olympia. They help set the tone in Olympia, and set priorities. Now, do you really think these rats are going to want the Auditor's Office to REALLY look too closely at things here on their home turf? Do you REALLY think the Auditor'S Office is going to want to rock that boat?

Don't be so naive. No boats will be rocked. Business as usual - lying, cheating and stealing - will be the order of the day. Same as it ever was.

I hope the new state auditor does a better job at investigating the Port than former auditor Sonntag did. Sonntag's office bent over backwards trying to find reasons not to truly investigate, and then not to criticize how the Port secretly and illegally under the Open Meetings Act planned to create and then spend public money on HarborWorks.

If you are willing to cut off your dick, literally or figuratively, and make a reasonably good attempt at hiding the fact that you intend to do so, or did, you can make it in Port Angeles! At least for a while.

Comment at 4:14 - some things never change. The sun still sets in the east and Max Mania still has a hardon for Matthew Randazzo.

So, why isn't the State Auditor looking into the "CSO" fiasco? There is WAY more of the publics' money squandered in that Port Angeles City staff concocted project, than these other issues.

Don't get me wrong. ALL of these issues should be REALLY investigated, if anyone is really interested in restoring the publics' faith in "democracy".

With what goes on here, is there any wonder why no one wants to run for office, or be involved in "democracy", here?

As has been mentioned here before, the City Staff buffaloed everyone into purchasing the old 5 million gallon tank and a number of acres of the old Rayonier site to store sewage in, thus rendering the entirety of Port Angeles' 75 acre water front "jewel" worthless (as subsequent surveys by Harborworks found out).

But, that was not the total extent of the long term damage to Port Angles Glenn Cutler and his staff wrought upon Port Angeles. The $50 million dollar price tag residents have to pay for this proven un-needed project takes that $50 million out of the pockets of Port Angeles residents every month, for many years to come, ensuring their inability to spend that money to support their local economy.

It isn't as if Port Angeles residents are so wealthy, don'tcha know. $50 million is a big chunk of change for 20,000 men, women and children to come up with. No choice with the city utility bills, so, other things don't get money spent upon. Sorry local businesses.

Ya wonder why Port Angeles is not experiencing a "recovery", when other communities are?

Say "Thank You" to Glenn Cutler and his staff at Port Angeles City Hall.

Please note that Anon. 7:40pm July 7th tries to defend the famously thin-skinned Matthew Randazzo by invoking the favorite boogeyman of the local far-right crowd. He doesn't dispute the accuracy of the post he's responding to, just tries to distract readers away from it, and back onto his favorite subject.

The State Auditor's Office maintains an office in the Port of PA building and SAO staff work just around the corner from the Port Commissioners' Meeting Room. Do you suppose that cozy arrangement has anything to do with the SAO never finding any fault with the way the Port spends public money or conducts business?

The most the left wing contingent here could manage is a meaningless petition urging the commissioners to reconsider creating the new position for Robb.

A recall petition, even if it failed at the ballot, would send a clear message to the good old boys but I guess instead we'll be getting the government we deserve instead.

Port Commissioners continue to ignore the requirement that they must conduct business openly. They cannot legally select in private the four finalists for the interim executive director position. Yet from the PDN's account of yesterday's commission meeting, that's exactly what they did.
How arrogant and insulting can they be?

Because they know that nothing will come of it.

Remember former Port Angeles City Council member, part owner of Pen Ply, and current owner of the "export logs to China" operation on the former Pen Ply site, Grant Munro? Remember when there were calls by the public that he be required to pay past bills generated by Pen Ply? Remember what he was quoted as saying?

"Well, they can just pound sand".

These folks know they can do what they want in this town.

Oh, yeah --- I'd forgotten about that choice quote from the well-connected insider Grant Munro. Is my dim memory correct about him also being involved in the first incremental deforestation of Lincoln Park a few years ago, when the city/port oversaw the removal of about 300 trees? Rumor has it that the public entities were not paid very much (if anything) for the value of the timber because they were told that it was worth less due to the possibility that generations of park goers might have nailed signs or recreational items to the tree trunks.
Watch out for the same story about the devalued nature of Lincoln Park's timber when the inevitable clear-cut happens. The public will probably have to pay dearly to have the logging company not only cut down but also dispose of those trash trees.

This morning's (Sunday 7/14) PDN article about the Port whistle blower reports and investigation brings out even more reasons for the Auditor's Office to scrutinize Port of PA operations ASAP. The article focused more on other things such as Robb's shortcomings as a manager, but also mentioned that one reason for the whistle blower report was Robb's failure to properly oversee leases of Port property.
If Port tenants are failing to comply with lease terms, or if tenants lack required liability insurance or bonds, then this is a serious breach that must be addressed. The public could be directly liable for hazardous conditions caused by uninsured or non-compliant port tenants ---- placing millions of dollars of public assets at unnecessary risk.
Port Commissioners, please listen-up and take action if Port tenants are in noncompliance with their leases!

IF?

Look at what has happened at Pen Ply?! Look at how many times, including the above mentioned situation with Grant Munro, the taxpayers have been left to pay the bills.

Why were these tenants not required to post a bond to insure they would leave the leased properties, responsibly?
