Hey! It's only money! Who cares? More people are unemployed here, than last month. Great time to ask the community to cough up another $100 million in debts.

Why not? The Tank o Turds only cost us $50 million. If we can fork out $50 million for a tank to hold our turds for a couple hours once in a while, surely we can fork out $100 million for facilities to hold our kids in for a couple hours every day!

Did you see this comment on the PDN website?

" Steve Trubow · The Ohio State University
Our team of expert doctors, scientists, and technologists is providing no-cost depression screening and suicide intervention programs in Bremerton, Shelton, Tri-Cities, Seattle and Tacoma for the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs. Even with Clallam County’s second highest suicide rate in Washington, we could not get Peninsula Behavioral Health to participate in a no-cost program that has been proven to reduce suicide attempts by 40%.

Yep, priorities. Turd Tanks, we fixate on for years, and have the big bucks for. But free help with professionals to help reduce suicide? Given Clallam alternates between the HIGHEST and second highest suicide rate in the STATE? No way. Go away.

One more of many examples of why this area sucks in so many ways.

A 2007 dissertation by Robert Scott McGowne at Texas A & M found student achievement, attendance and completion rate measures were not found to
be statistically significant in relation to school facility conditions. Teacher retention and student behavior were slightly improved by better facilities.

If the design of the new building included ways to house residents in the aftermath of an earthquake or other natural disaster, it may be worth funding and building. As a place to nurture critical, independent thinking...not so much. I'm not running into too many kids that are not all about opinions rather than facts which they can independently verify.
