ALEC Puppets shot down by Clallam County Superior Court
The ALEC-financed Astroturf group calling itself the Freedom Foundation had its lawsuit dismissed today by Clallam County Superior Court Judge Erik Rohrer. The Freedom Foundation, acting on orders from their puppet-masters at the corporate-financed American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), has been trying to use the initiative process in Sequim to turn the clock back to the good old days when them commie labor unions didn't exist.
The Freedom Foundation had collected enough signatures from Sequim voters to qualify two initiatives for the ballot. These initiatives would have (a) mandated “transparency” in the collective bargaining process, and (b) made union membership voluntary.
Sequim city officials had refused to put the initiatives on the ballot because they conflicted with state laws; hence the Freedom Foundation's lawsuit against the City of Sequim, which was thrown out today.
The good news for the Freedom Foundation is: there are plenty of red states where the citizens are gullible enough to keep voting against their own interests. Please go there; the operative word being GO.

This area sure has some weird ways. Texas is looking better all the time.
It will be interesting to see how many times these chumps have to be fleeced by these neo-cons with their rhetoric, until they figure out the only ones getting rich off these regressive efforts are the lawyers.
Reminds me of the Dungeness Wateshed lawsuits. I'm sure the same morons that gave money to the lawyers to fight that, are the same as the ones who support ALEC.
The same ones who scream "Protect Our Freedoms" are the first in line to tell everyone else wjhat they can and cannot do. You know, like what they can do on their lands (grow pot?), who they can sell their lands to (Wilderness Initiate?), who they can marry (defense of marriage?), etc, etc, etc.
No matter how much they kick and scream, things are changing all over, anyways.
"Protect Our Freedoms"
Hum, that can be pretty simple, why make things complicated.
"This is a gun, get out of my fucking way."
Oh, wait, they think this isn't supposed to be like 1830 anymore cuz now we are supposed to be all cultured and all that shit. :-)
Yeah, Billy. But now they got SWAT teams with armored attack trucks, and big time military hardware. You pull out your gun on those guys when they tell you to bend over, and you know what is going to happen.
Anybody who thinks having a gun is going to protect them from what "the law" wants them to do is flat out dreaming. Whatched way too many John Wayne movies.
You see what they do now. Lock down entire towns. Law abiding citizens can't leave their own homes, go to work, or anything. Until "the law" tells them they can.
You've got as much "freedom" as they want you to have.
@ 8:52 PM,...
Your statements are true, hell, I only have enough powder on hand to disable one or two attack vehicles.
That of course is just a statement, I don't expect to ever have to do that in this area.
But if it did, what the hell, I've done went and got old and want my death to be interesting being as it is the last fucking thing I'm going to do here.
As for the cops and security, I've never met a cop I didn't like and I used to hang out with a lot of them back when I was raising my kids.
As for the cops here, I hardly ever notice them, I don't fuck with them and they don't fuck with me, but if I ever need one I'll damn sure call for one, hopefully before I pull the trigger.
I'm a vet, I served my four years to protect our rights and freedoms. But times have changed and things have changed and things are not as they used to be.
It seems like anymore one of our enemies is our government, and don't get me started about the fucking bankers and lawyers and courts.
BTW, I have yet to talk to a cop willing to give up his guns if any liberal assholes come and try to take them away. Any cop with a gun would be welcome in my camp.
Any cop with an attack vehicle would really be welcome in my camp. LOL
"You see what they do now. Lock down entire towns. Law abiding citizens can't leave their own homes, go to work, or anything. Until "the law" tells them they can."
Well, shit happens, but that doesn't make them the enemy, it just makes them someone that is trying to keep the peace around a bunch of fucking idiots.

I'm not so sure that un-armed guy selling cigarettes that the police killed would agree with you!
Like you say, things aren't like they used to be. The government got busy giving itself all kinds of powers it didn't used to have.
They got caught spying on the leadership of our friendly countries and allies.
Now they are givng themselves all kinds of spying and arrest powers to "combat radicalization". You ever seen a definition of what "radicalization" means to them?
We used to be able to organize with other Americans when we disagreed with things the government was doing. It was a "right". Some founding fathers said an "obligation".
Now? If you protest against oil pipelines, or the parks being a warefare testing range, are you going to be called a radical?
@ 8:58 AM.... I agree that the police in some areas get out of line at times, at least by our perspectives. But those areas have more problems than in this area, it is actually pretty peaceful here.
Still, you never know what may set off here. But I'm just an observer, with opinions, and pretty ill equipped to deal with things if they for some reason go to hell.
I don't own an assault rifle and have no intention of buying one and if things go to hell I'm not joining in on the festivities, I'll just stay home and protect myself and property the best I can with what I have. Hell, I don't even know how to make decent explosives.
And if you think at times I'm full of shit you may be correct, at times I even have to take laxatives. :-)
May you live in interesting times.
You can't organize a protest? PUSSY!
Seriously, you make no sense.
You are a tool.
Not you BBC.
But just so you know BBC, Texas is run by ALEC.
I keep thinking about that bumper sticker from a few years back "We're making enemies faster than we can kill them".
How is it that this country thinks it can go tell every other country what it can or can't do?
We sure wouldn't take kindly to some other country telling US what we can and can't do!
But we expect them to put up with what we ourselves would not?!
How long do you think America would put up with military drones from Pakistan or China flying missions over our country?
@ 2:35 AM.. If I move to Texas it will be to an area where a bunch of other outlaws live.
No property taxes.
Low electric rates.
No building permit to build a new home.
Isn’t officials everywhere demanding how you have to do things.
Cheaper gas than here.
City budget is only 2 million a year.
Etc, etc, etc.
@2:33 AM
Sure. Right. Do another line.
BBC, so what exactly qualifies you as an "outlaw"?
Just curious.
@ 3:24 PM.... Oh, I just don't like how things are these days, seems like we keep losing more of our freedoms, everyone wants to tell us how we have to do things, and want to make us buy permits from them, etc, etc..
This area seems especially bad for that but there are still parts of this country it isn't like it is here, and doesn't rain so fucking much. :-)
Yeah, there is no doubt this place has real serious problems.
I think any person that can, should move away. For their own best interests.
The so-called leadership in this area got drunk on the idea that they could do all kinds of things we don't have the mney for, by getting grants. Now we have surviellance cameras all over, because they bought them with grant money. We have Glenn Cutler's Tank o Turds , because there was grant money.
Funny about the Tank o Turds. Because they haven't gotten more grant money, the city hasn't been able to finish that project.
Now, after years of doing the grant thing, the city is too expensive to live in.
And, now they want another %100 million for a new school. You know that isn't the last time "they" are going to be asking for more of your money.
So, anyone who can should move now. Get out before the place becomes even moere expensive, and you're stuck. It sure isn't going to get any better.
Just friendly advice.
Actually, I don't know anything about The Freedom Foundation, and I'm not interested in learning about it, I just go my own way.
"I wouldn't join any group that would have me as a member."
