As politicians go I thought Steve did as well as any, he will be a hard act to follow.

Oh well, It wuz a gud day, fun races in Port Townsend and I won $1.47 at the casino. Hey, it’s better than losing.

McEntire is a big-spending, sleazy, no vision kind of guy - in other words, someone who is entirely beatable.

The fact that he's likely to beat Barnfather quite handily speaks to the disorganization in her (so-called) campaign, NOT his appeal as a candidate.

And if and when he is elected, it will be the beginning of four challenging years for Clallam County residents who aren't far-right zealots. (Also known as "The Majority.") And we'll have Linda Barnfather to thank for it.

For the record...I sincerely do hope I'm wrong about how this will turn out, but...

Well, I agree Barnfather has not run a very visible campaign, and I do agree with most of your comments. I said much the same to a friend recently.

They asked me the following: "Do you really think someone who voted for Steve Tharinger in the last election, is likely to vote for McEntire in this one?"

That did get me thinking. It isn't as if McEntires' rhetoric is that much less extreme than that of Sue Forde and the others that make up his constituency.

Stop being negative, you guys!

So, what do you think of the new paint job on the old Gottschalks building? Baby poop brown ... ? Way to go, Country Aire!

If Linda Barnfather's campaign seems amateurish and needs more polish, then people need to help get the word out about her --- and not assume that she will lose.
She is so much better qualified that McEntire. He has shown that he stands for the worst style of governing: arrogant, secretive, self-dealing, big spending, cronyism.
Clallam County government has been pretty well served by our three current commissioners. Tharinger's position at the county should be filled by somebody like Linda Barnfather; not by a big shot/big spender/to-heck-with-the public full of bad habits Port Commissioner.
Two Mikes and a Linda equals a good county governing team.

CHANGE OF SUBJECT ---- TO PEN PLY
On the PA Council Agenda for tomorrow night (10/4/11) is an agreement to allow Pen Ply 13 months to make installment payments on the nearly $300,000 it owes the City in delinquent utility bills. It also calls for forgiving thousands of dollars in accumulated penalties and interest.
Is there any evidence that Pen Ply will still be in existence 13 months from now, let alone able to pay all its past due bills --- not only to the City, but to the Port, the state, and others? Just a few months ago Pen Ply got a half million dollar public grant, saying "With this grant, Pen Ply will make it for another three or four months at least." (PDN, 6/8/2011)
If by some miracle Pen Ply does pay up on its overdue bills, why should the city waive the interest and penalties? That is unfair to other customers!

McEntire's home has lost a GREAT DEAL of value in the past couple of years, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if his was one of the now infamous "underwater" mortgages. (If you don't believe me, check the county tax records yourself.)

Hmmm...Maybe that's the REAL reason why, despite his pension and cozy spot at the Port, good ol' boy Jimbo is trying to take a step up in the world - and in salary.

And yes, I agree...It seems very likely that Pen Ply will NOT be here in another year. Which would saddle all utility rate payers in Port Angeles with their debt. (On top of the $500,000 in tax payer money that Pen Ply was already given...) This is one of those "businesses" that macho, right-thinking, right-wingers seem to love...But they couldn't exist at all if not for the handouts they receive.

I'm voting for all women on all tickets in the future. Things will still go to hell but at least we can stick the blame on them for a change.

A. I didn't hear about it.
B. I'm working on stuff for the PAFAC Christmas show.

Might as well give my vote to someone with NO experience, those WITH experience are a bunch of self-serving sociopaths.
