City Council to Review Contract with Downtown Association

The City Council has decided to review the City's contract with the Port Angeles Downtown Association.

This has been simmering for a long time, but the boiling point came last month when the PADA Board voted to remove a member from the Board, and then decided retroactively that the vote was just "advisory."  Or something.

The comments at the end of the linked article are pretty colorful.  Check them out before they get deleted.

Jack Harmon is a little tyrant and bully. He is probably THE WORST person you could put in charge of anything. His people skills are close to nil, and he clearly has no hesitation about lying and/or slandering people to protect his own pathetic little post. Weird, pathetic, and certainly not worthy of the city's support or our tax dollars - that's the PADA.

Years ago, before the hippies took over and made things so incredibly complicated, when local leaders accomplished things, at Council meetings and such, you would swear you were in the Jet Propulsion Labs after a successful Rover launch, guys cheering and patting themselves on the back. All those years of work, paying off, making life better here, visible tears streaming down all their faces each time they met and planned and spent for the betterment of Port Angeles. I miss those times of great accomplishment here!

Yeah, when those hefty, balding old white guys ran the joint, we had it made it made. Those were the days.

Yeah, it is easy to see the greatness of Port Angeles! 150 years of Greatness!

Resulting in a town of derelicts and degeneration. Wow!

Really? You mean, like here in Port Angeles, the center of historical successes for the nation?

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Anon 5:22 PM says: Gee, for a minute I thought you were talking about Max Mania.

How many months (or has it been years now) have you been obsessing about Max in posts here?As was suggested before, why don't you just ask Max out for a date, and be done with it!

Do us ALL that favor.

Okay. Please point out what notable "successes" you think the "conservatives" have enabled in the Port Angeles area. I'm sure we all will be fascinated.

Do you really think you and your ilk have any future? Please explain to us all. I'm sure we will all be fascinated.

in the past PA was:
economically thriving
school enrollment was rising
there was jobs for our children
poverty was below 30%
Now PA is:
Economically stressed
school enrollment has decreased for over a decade
we are exporting our children
poverty is over 60%

@Anon 11:56 AM

So, you're figuring that the current economic troubles are unique to Port Angeles, and the result of "liberals" policies? That all the other towns and cities, elsewhere, are all doing fine?

Heard about San Bernadino? Stockton? Scranton?

And, you think Don Perry is a Liberal? Edna Pedersen? Etc?

Do you remember the size of the economic SURPLUS former President Clinton left the country with? The result of a "tax and spend liberal".

And do you remember how Former Republican President George Bush not only spent that surplus, but went on and spent the country into massive debt with his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Right.

you just don't get it, because you are to stupid to think.
increased regulations, increased taxes, bigger government, more taxes, all drives business away from PA, and all other states, drives them overseas..... and sends our children elsewhere to look for work....GET IT....the big cities get bigger and poorer, the big states get bigger and poorer, people become more dependent on government and the little communities dry up and go away.
Let's build another park, then when all the money is gone you will have a place to sit back and stave to death.

Anon 9:56 says: "you just don't get it, because you are to stupid to think."

So, Clinton did not leave office, leaving the country a massive surplus? And Bush did not start to wars that have cost the country billions, along with his massive spending on the "War on Terror", crippled the country with the massive debt we ALL are still paying for?.

Those US corporations are not syphoning off trillions in profits from US consumers, and parking those un-taxed monies in off-shore accounts, notably Switzerland?

The oil companies are not charging us all near record breaking gasoline prices at the pump, while the cost of a barrel of oil is near record lows?

Have you actually looked into these issues? Have you looked into how wages have been decreasing, and peoples' investments and savings have been wiped out by big financial corporations "fun and games"? but, while so many have lost their homes to foreclosures (have you heard about those things?) and so many peoples' wages and salaries have been decreased, the wealthy are richer than ever?

Fox News rhetoric is easy to sling around when you want to be a whiner, but the reality of the situation is a bit different.

People leave PA because it offers so little.

Bush didn't start any wars, Bin Laden & Sadaam did, maybe you thought it was okay to knock down the world trade centers and fly a plane into the pentagon or kill 5 million innocent Iranian civilians?
you can blame high gas prices on Clinton for letting all the oil companies merge
You can blame the loss of retirement funds and the housing collapse on Barney Frank and his liberal buddies in congress (who controlled the house and senate) for forcing banks to loan money to people who couldn't afford the home payments.
You can blame the Democrats for the high corporate taxes that force corporations to shelter there money, and why not, the services their money pays for goes to lazy fucking people who live off the government.

"Bush didn't start any wars, Bin Laden & Sadaam did.."

What fantasy world do you live in??

After 9/11, what exactly did Sadam do to have the US spend billions waging war in Iraq? Was Bin Ladin in Iraq?

Answer me that, before we get into the rest of your dreams.
