Possible Longer Shifts for Port Angeles Police Officers

Port Angeles police officers might start working fewer days a week but with longer shifts.  Local police and fire dispatchers recently switched to twelve-hour shifts with more days off, and Police Chief Terry Gallagher says the change has been positive:

"Our dispatchers came up with the plan to change shift lengths.  What we found was a decrease in overtime and a dramatic drop in sick time because employees had longer rest periods and could better plan time with their families."

With all the crime they have had to deal with lately, I'm sure they need longer "rest periods".

I wonder if the new dog they got from The Netherlands (cough, cough) named BOGART, can tell if I have an ounce or less on me?

5*8=40 and 4*12=48

So are they voluntarily working 48 hour weeks instead of 40 hour weeks with overtime?

Also nice to see that the Port is committed to getting another 1% raise in property tax every year no matter what.

This post brings to mind my first duty station in the Navy, in Florida. My first 90 days was in the chow hall, in an area called the deep sink, where all the big pots and pans were scrubbed and the potatoes were peeled (with a machine).

When I got there a crew of four was required, I don't recall how long our shifts were but they kept switching them and things were fucked up.

I suggested to command that two of us could could do that job if we didn't have to do any night watches and could get 'cooks liberty'. Three days on and four days off, then four days on and three days off.

So they decided to give it a shot, it worked out great, only worked half of each month. It worked so good and I enjoyed it so much even though the work days was long that I asked for a 90 day extension there before going to another job in the squadron, and got it.

Then I asked for another 90 days but they wouldn't let me have it because I was so frigging stupid when I joined the Navy I told them I knew how to type so they put me in a office.

Fucking office, after I got out of the brig they gave me a better job in the parachute loft. :-)

If I were a criminal, I would research sentencing trends before I relocated. Seems like you can do much worse in Clallam and get a slap on the wrist. The irony is that this Bale guy will probably be farmed out to Clallam!!!!!
