Big Lots Coming Back to Peninsula

Big Lots Stores Inc., which closed their Sequim branch six years ago, is opening a new branch in Port Angeles.  Sometime later this summer it will be opening in Port Angeles Plaza between Rite Aid Pharmacy and Jo-Ann Fabric Store.

Yes, we need BIG and LOTS. Supersize our ability to shop. We need to consume ever more.

We aren't destroying our environment fast enough. We aren't obese enough.

Oh don't worry. Big Lots is mostly left over shit that should be in a landfill ... This way, folks in PA can marvel at their cheap Chinese slave labor crap a little while before it ends up there anyway.

Billy, That stuff is only important to old men with nothing else going on...I'm sure your credentials are impressive at coffee time at the Fairmont, but for those of us that haven't ruined our lives with alcohol and stupidity, your just a lonely old crank with an overactive interest in prostitutes and too much time on your hands.

I'm an interesting old crank that does a hell of a lot more than you know about, including helping others. And I don't do the Fairmont.

Instead of insulting other people who post here or making childish remarks about Max Mania, wouldn't it be more useful to demand some accountability from Port officials on their botched demolition plan for the PenPly stack? After dousing thousands of citizens with dioxin-laden dust during the failed demolition blast, these geniuses only now realize that the stack debris needs to be handled like toxic waste. What a lack of foresight by all concerned.

How many examples of how stupid the "leadership" in Port Angeles is, do people need before they get it?

This stuff just keeps happening, year after year, and the same groups of people keep votoing the same people into office.

And, to top it off, the few "new" people that try to offer a different approach are just trashed until they give up and go away, ensuring Port Angeles will not change. Happens over and over.

Big Lots is, indeed, more cheap chinese labor camp garbage, just like Ross. I'm not going to be shopping there anymore than I'll shop at Walmart.

I noticed the so-called cruise ship that came to Port Angeles earlier this week was only half full, DOWN from the previous ship's visit. 50 people on board.

A regular cruise ship, like those that stop in Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver, carry around 2,000 passengers, and a similar number in crew.

The Coho ferry, which is 100 feet longer than this so-called cruise ship, brings many more visitors to Port Angeles every day of the week. Has for over 50 years.

But, what does the Chamber and Downtown Association get all excited about? Put time and money into?

Can't wait to shop there. Have always missed the one in Sequim that was run out by greedy commercial building owners charging over $13,000 a month for building lease.
