The first order of business should be to fire Jeff Lincoln immediately. Not one more day of that inflated salary and benefit package should be paid to him.
If anyone needs to stick around to wind up the agency's affairs, the Harbor Works secretary would be the appropriate one to keep on the payroll. Get rid of Lincoln ASAP!!!

Yeah, right. I'll believe it when I see it. The Harbor Works board will "discuss" dissolving, but won't actually go away until all the money in the bank is spent and they have wrung every last possible penny out of the public's pockets.
Remember our last city manager who resigned supposedly because of an intolerable, hostile work environment, yet the quit date he gave was two months after the date of the resignation letter? He not only continued to come to work, he also negotiated a six-month consulting contract with the City in order to return and work on an interim basis for a lucrative hourly rate. What B... S... about an "intolerable, hostile work environmental causing him to quit!
It wouldn't be surprising to see that manager's cronies at Harbor Works mimicking the same type of stunt.
Instead, face up to reality, Harbor Works board members: admit defeat and go away NOW, not later. And, please - City and Port - don't block their paths to the exit.

Yes! Enough of this expensive joke. We can't afford you. Never could.

Get a clue, and do the right thing. Rayonier has said over and over they don't respect you, and don't want to negotiate with you. The offer you made was "Comercially unacceptable, one no sane landowner would accept". (From Rayonier's own letter)

What is left?

Dissolve this waste of time, now.

WHAT???? This morning's PDN says Jeff Lincoln is entitled to a severance package including six months of salary and other costly benefits if his job goes away???
That is OUTRAGEOUS!
Let me recall the sequence of events. In June, when, as we now know, Lincoln and the HW Board knew that Rayonier was through dealing with them and HW's "mission" was a failure, the board raised Lincoln's salary to $130,000 a year and gave him a lot of extra perks. Then there was all this public blather by board members about Lincoln being such a jewel and deserving a compensation package that included the sun, moon and stars, etc. etc.
What crap!
Run Lincoln out of town now, with a rubber check for his "severance pay".
And - as for some of the supposedly stellar business people on the HarborWorks Board who voted for this scheme: if this is your idea of fiscal responsibilty, then I'm glad that there are other financial planners and auto dealers in town where people can choose to take their business from now on.

It must be just an oversight that there is no space for public comment on Thursday's agenda for the Harbor Works special board meeting.
And, how convenient for Jeff Lincoln that the agenda also lacks an action item that would allow the Board to immediately sever its employment relationship with the Executive Director.
There's still time to rectify these oversights and amend the agenda.
No - wait - maybe it's for the best that there will be no public comment period Thursday. Otherwise Karen Rogers' buddies and HW's paid PR consultants would have to get busy ginning-up "support" for H'Wks by finding shills to pack the meeting and pad the record with phony praise.
H-Wks should amend Thursday's Board agenda to add the item about terminating the Executive Director, though. Otherwise, the Board might either have to call another special meeting, or wait until the next regular meeting in October to fire him.

And the best part is, they already spent ALL the MONEY. For a complete failure. They say it would have been somewhat cheaper if they had actually been able to make a deal with Rayonier. WTF?

Quit whinning, the Port, the City and HW's efforts were in the best interest of the citizens.

Just because all you time clock punchers don't know how to negotiate a labor contract does not mean Jeff Lincoln has to be stupid.

Go back to your union reps and see if those idiots can get you a decent contract.

"urall pathetic"

Well done Jeff

Don't look now Mr. Republican, but your disdain for the working man is showing.

Am I understanding the post by "Progress" to be congratulating Jeff Lincoln for his ability to negotiate himself such a lucrative employment contract, while also asserting that HWks only has the city's best interests at heart?
