Jefferson County Commissioner Candidate: “Them Black Helicopters is Gonna Get Us!”
I always thought global conspiracy theories — and calling one’s political opponent a Communist/Nazi/Fascist/Terrorist/whatever — were confined to national politics; and local issues were argued on their own merits.
Apparently not. Jim Boyer, District 3 county commissioner candidate, has called his opponent — incumbent John Austin — an “enviro-wacko.” Not only that, but since Clallam and Jefferson Counties are near Olympic National Park, a United Nations-sponsored Biosphere Program is going to swoop in on us and steal our property rights. Freedom will die!
The park is one of 500 sites around the world that are overseen by the Biosphere Program, which is overseen by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Boyer said:
“I have concerns about why it seems like we have subordinated our sovereignty to an international body that makes its own rules.”
He’s also deeply concerned about the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI). The city of Port Townsend is a member of this organization, but Jefferson County isn’t. This group “provides technical consulting, training, and information services to build capacity, share knowledge and support local government in the implementation of sustainable development at the local level” according to their website.
Boyer said: “There is a link to all these things that makes me curious. I would like to know why all these guys are tied together and who's making the rules.”

Boyer reminds me of the old Port Townsend bumper sticker: "We're all here because we're not all there." He evidently lives in Port Ludlow, though, so the good folks of Port Townsend must be relieved that they don't have to claim him.
One thing that haunts me, though, is that in this age of the Internet, people from all over follow what's happening in our region by reading the Peninsula Daily News and other on-line news media. What an unfortunate impression Boyer conveys to those readers far away who treasure the natural beauty here themselves, and are undoubtedly startled by the local lack of appreciation for such world-class treasures as Olympic National Park.

Labels are stupid, how in the hell can we be labeled? Other than crazy that is.

Actually, I think this planet would be better off if it was ran by just one government with representatives of all countries involved.
We could really reduce the size of our governments and all the bullshit that goes with them.
Get right down to it, this planet could be managed by a half dozen wise and peaceful people, with a lot of bombs.

Do we really want others flocking here considering what this world is shaping up to be?
These days making batshit insane comments is the easiest way to get people to pay attention to you.
i kind of like Boyer, "call a spade a spade" and we need to get all the enviro-nut jobs out of office
His, apparently deleted except in Google cache, freerepublic profile is illuminating. He spews a rant about Hillary Clinton and Vince Foster. That tells me all I have to know about him.

BOYCOTT TEMPTATIONS>>>
Of course you like him, edna...the guy is a sad nut job just like you. Nothing to say, no ideas, no plan, just crazy batshit accusations.
The sad old woman, Edna, stealing another user's name, said:
" i kind of like Boyer, "call a spade a spade" and we need to get all the enviro-nut jobs out of office."
Besides the obvious irony that Edna stoops to trying to confuse readers here by posting under other user's names, and says she likes "call a spade a spade", as if she supports TRUTHFULNESS, there is more here.
Again, she posts to support a wacko candidate. Why? Only because they are espousing the republican/conservative rhetoric, regardless of whether the candidate has any actually relevant experience.
This year, we have a stellar group of republican/conservatives running for local positions. This includes McEntire, the Port Commissioner who claims "Fiscal Responsibility" as a primary attribute. Looking at the money squandered on HarborWorks, that is hard to believe. But, candidates can say anything.
We have Dan Gase, local realtor, who has not held political office, but is great friends with the local realtor/republican crowd, and so can put up a lot of signs. I still remember the letter he sent to the Governor during the Graving Dock debacle.
And Robin Poole, who can't answer questions at forums because he doesn't know what the job he is applying for entails.
And, as with Boyd, Edna will endorse them all because they are republican/conservative. Not because they have better qualifications, and will do a better job of serving the public in these difficult economic times.
Yep! Really credible.
Here, Here......Dan Gase is clearly not qualified. It's just to bad that Tharinger is an idiot

That statement worries me.
It's just to bad that Tharinger is an idiot.
All politicians are fucking idiots. Life is like a can of mixed nuts, the big ones work their way to the top.
Our political systems are flat ass stupid, there isn't a one of you that would set up your own political system if you owned your own planet, and you know it.
Family's are not ran as democracy's, they are ran as monarchies.
Oh well, it's just a bunch of monkeys fucking around, don't take it all too serious or it will drive you as crazy as I am.
All politicians are fucking idiots.
I don't know if this statement is true or not , but some politicians are definitely better than others. Look at recent history in Port Angeles. Didja enjoy the Harborworks mess? How about the Graving Yard fiasco? Do you think that once a city council member is defeated in an election he should be reappointed by his friends on that council at the first opportunity? Face it, the local Democrats may have their deficits, but they’re no where near the level of incompetence and corruption that seems to be routine with the local Republicans. Look at the ridiculous crap that conservatives routinely post at this site…do you see a lot of liberals pulling that stuff? Gee, I hate to sound “elitist” but we really ARE better than them .
Speaking of eco-terrorists, at this moment the firetrucks are at the place on the corner where they don't have a garbage service, that I've ever noticed, and burn everything they can.
So looking at it from that perspective you can see the law and fire department as eco-terrorists. Or you can see them as trying to protect the ecology of this planet in order to keep life alive here.
Ask yourselves, are they eco-terrorists or because they, oh hell, never mind.
All of you anti eco fools can burn your garbage for all I care, the sooner you ruin the planet the sooner it will be rid of you.
The Tea Party will continue to rise tonight
I'm going camping, the rest of you monkeys are charge while I'm gone.
Good luck with that shit...
