Pay Raise for Port of Port Angeles Executive Director

Jeff Robb is getting a five percent pay raise. This was decided by a unanimous vote of the Port of Port Angeles commissioners. His pay will now be $120,750.

This pay raise will be retroactive to August of this year.

I would rather see Jeff Robb get such a salary than Jeff Lincoln of HarborWorks who received an obscenely high annual starting salary of $115,000 and then was given a retroactive raise of $15,000 on top of that --- so that when HarborWorks folded Jeff walked away with $65,000 ++++ plus in severance pay, too. (Severance pay was defined in his contract as six months' salary.)

So - what is Robb's severance package? What are his other fringe benefits? Is he allowed to bank vacation time ad infinitum so that if he quit today he would still be on the payroll "on vacation" for months and months? The whole compensation package may be equally as upsetting as the 5% retroactive raise.

I just wish that the mindset of Port Commissioners could better take into consideration the economic realities of their constituents.

"A Slight Case of Over Bombing".

Just because a sleazy politician calls them self a Republican, a Tea Party member, or any other form of "conservative" should not give them a free pass from scrutiny from those who care about our community.

Port of Port Angeles Commissioner McEntire is running for a position with campaign signs saying who he is "Fiscally Responsible".

Really?

I sure hope conservatives who care will NOT vote for this hypocrisy! Better not to vote at all, than to help elect someone like this into office!

Hell, any idiot could do that job for twenty four grand a year. No one getting paid more than that should be called public servants. They should be called what they are, greedy.

4.5 hours to my camping trip and counting down.

The Port is deeply corrupt. This is just one more example of a Port decision that is self-serving, and stinks to high heaven. And yes, anyone who would vote for any of the current Port commissioners for higher office needs to have their head examined.

The City Council needs to look into this slimey Port cabal and begin the process of hosing it down.

Well, lets see Robb:
1. manages a $30 million a year budget
2. manages the Airport, including Sekui
3. manages 2 marinas
4. manages several tenents including Westport, and ACTI
5. supports the City and County
6. manages marine terminals for the Blackball ferry and ship repairs
7. manages Economic Development
Not to mention dealing the DOE, DNR, State and local politicians
etc. and he's 100% responsible for
the success of the Port. Let see you do that!

Actually i am the patriot i was before, but i have a huge problem with the Billions we have spent on Bank bail outs, stimulus bills, heath care bills, etc. The new regime has spent more in 2 years than Bush spent in 7 years overseas.

Lets not forget local Government spent so much in the last 6 years that even with with the largest tax increases in WA history (Gas, Sales tax, pop, water, candy, real estate, ferry tolls, bridge tolls, L&I, unemployment, etc.) we still had a multi billion dollar deficit.
Now they want to raise taxes more to pay for their incompetance.

WTF, you go ahead pay the bill.

But hey! Mr. Robb has a job. When do the unemployment bennies run out, Max? Shouldn't Max get a job ... soon?

This is for Sick and Tired, and anyone who says "why do you liberals hate?" -- I'm a liberal, intelligent and well-educated, and I don't hate anyone. But I hate to see waste when there is need. Get it? This isn't about saying Jeff Robb is overpaid, or Bush was wrong about the Middle East (BOTH of which statements I believe to be true); this is about saying let's put the money we have into good and productive use, such as keeping America from having another 1929-style crash (which we were very close to) and trying to get the greatest number of people covered for healthcare. These things you decry as "waste" are things that actually helped PEOPLE instead of Wall Street, banks, etc. You people who say that helping the people is socialism are the one who hate.

Back to name calling, and insulting. I thought about this as I was working today. I come to this site, and 90% of the negativity is from self proclaimed "conservatives" taking every opportunity to insult others.

I'm looking for solutions to the serious problems our community and nation face, but all I hear from the "conservatives" is crap. Name calling, insults and mindless rhetoric. Nothing that will actually help our community or country.

What do you actually propose to DO? Tell me, step by step, how you propose to fix the problems our community/country face.

If you are going to spout knee jerk rhetoric, don't bother. I'm not interested.

Hmmm, Based on the past assumptions, and the details you post about, you must be Max Mania!

Just kidding.

But, that you detail what Mr. Robb does, does not automatically justify the salary he receives, or any benefit packages he is given by the port of Port Angeles Board members. I imagine the duties you outline, in Dubai, would probably get a salary much higher, right?

The points others have made, which are absolutely valid, are that here, in Port Angeles, right now, these salaries and benefit packages are not commensurate with market conditions.

Here, in Port Angeles, for years now, commercial buildings sit empty. Mr.Robb may be responsible for all the properties listed, but what has the increase in revenue to the public coffers been, during his management?

His getting a raise is much like the CEOs of Leaman Brothers getting big bonuses while the company files record losses. Simply having "responsibility" doesn't entitle one to a bonus. One has to demonstrate an extra-ordinary performance.

Or, maybe not. Convince me otherwise.

Obviously you're talking about WTF. You know, the one who takes every opportunity to label anyone WTF disagrees with a "Fascist". The one who uses profanity non-stop. The one who spews the Liberal party line ad infinitum.

Yeah, you're talking about WTF.

So far no one has come up with an answer for my "Show How the Port of Port Angeles is Corrupt" question. Talk about spurious accusations and ... uh ... hate.

The Port isn't corrupt. There is no gang of (oh heavens!) capitalist-realtor-industrialist-Wall Street bankers looting this town six ways from Sunday. None of this exists except in the minds of the squawk-a-doodle Leftists who have drunk deep of the Max-Darlene-Norma Socialist KoolAid.

Apparently the Port commissioners think Mr. Robb has done an excellent job at the Port and deserves a raise. That's all there is to it.

Unfortunately for you Leftists, there's no Socialist Oversight Committee to review the Port Commissioners decision and say "Tsk! Tsk! A pay raise?! For an obvious Capitalist-Fascist type? No, no and no again!"

Let's face it. You people just don't like anyone that successful, has a job or has that hideous taint of industry. Or finance. Or runs their own business.

So how about dropping the smug, sanctimonious affectation, the self-righteous indignation, the we-know-better-than-you pretense and admit that hate comes from your side. Hate for people that work and can continuously hold a job. Hate for industry, whether it be manufacturing or finance. Hate for people who haven't drunk the KoolAid of Socialism.

Wow! Do you folks take classes on how to present yourselves as complete idiots? Really. This is not intended as an insult, but as a real question.

You say "You're right, leftist-liberals hate success...because they never had any themselves". How can you possibly believe this to be true? Do you think Ted Turner is not "successful"? Steve Jobs? Micheal Jackson? Most of the creative minds in Hollywood? The most famous fashion designers like Halston? Where does the list end?

How about Einstein?

Any of these folks are notoriously "liberal", and have been the mainstays of the US economy, directly, and indirectly.

I may not, personally, be a fan of Micheal Jackson (for example), but I know he sure generated a LOT of jobs, and a LOT of money. Still does, even after his death.

These folks could buy everything you are with their pocket change.

And, knowing that you are such a staunch defender of "democracy", I know you will recognize the results of the "pocket book democracy", as the US population demonstrates it's support for things you may find offensive, like "R" rated, violent movies, pornography, violent video games, rap music, Micheal Jackson CDs and so much more.

If there were no support by the public, no one would buy these items.

Is American "freedom" a person's right to pursue the things YOU agree with?

"Dozens of groups have sprung up in the past few months and spent tens of millions of dollars to influence elections for governor and key House and Senate seats. Many of the groups are funded by corporations after two recent Supreme Court decisions opened the door to more corporate spending. Other groups are operating under existing laws as tax-exempt organizations that can keep their donors secret.

Spending by the outside groups has favored Republican candidates by a large margin.
A report from the Wesleyan Media Project found that in the past five weeks, Republican-leaning organizations outspent Democratic-leaning groups by a margin of almost 9 to 1."

Yep, those "conservatives" sure love the truth, love the average voter, and trust the democratic processes.

You know this? Can you state specific examples? I mean, aside from Sony records, a variety of plastic surgeons, tabloids world-wide and law enforcement and prosecutors in southern California, who exactly did MJ make money for?

Oh, and the hush money he paid out to the families of those kids he molested. So yeah, those people made money from MJ. OK, I'll give you that.

I'm going to let you re-think this stellar example, 'k?
