Caffeinated Clothier Closing

The Caffeinated Clothier, on First Street near Lincoln, held a farewell concert this past Friday.  They will be closing soon; they don't have an exact date yet.

It's a combination of a coffee house and a store selling clothing and gifts. They've only been there for a little over a year.  Their cappuccino is excellent.

36-Hour Concert at KOA

I wasn't planning to do a post about the 36-hour DJ-fest at the nearby KOA campground, but I've been following the comments at the PDN article.  And now the comments are gone.

Anyone know why they all got deleted?

Port Angeles Sesquicentennial

This Tuesday will be Port Angeles' sesquicentennial anniversary.  On June 19th, 1862, "we became Port Angeles" in the words of Cherie Kidd.

In 1791 this area, already settled by the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe, was named Puerto de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles by a Spanish explorer, Francisco de Eliza.

This Saturday there will be a public tour of the buildings that comprise the Port Angeles Civic Historic District on Lincoln Street (i.e. the Museum at the Carnegie, Clallam County Courthouse, Veterans Park and the art deco building at 215 S. Lincoln Street that was formerly the jail, fire station and city council chambers).

On Tuesday, the actual anniversary, the Peninsula Long Rifle Association will perform a musket salute, and the Museum at the Carnegie will become an actual Post Office for two hours.

Truck Route to Bypass Downtown Port Angeles?

At a City Council hearing this past Tuesday, City Engineer Mike Puntenney unveiled the capital improvement plan and transportation improvement program, which includes replacing the Lauridsen Boulevard Bridge.  Attendees expressed concern that this new bridge would pave the way for a Race Street/Lauridsen Blvd. truck route that would send trucks past the library, the skate park, the Dream Playground, Civic Field and Jefferson School.

The public hearing will be continued to June 19th.
