The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says there is a wetlands violation on property which includes the sprint boat race course. Sprint boat race organizers Kellie and Dan Morrison will be meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers this Tuesday to discuss what the Corps describes as "a knowing and willful violation."

Rant to Oblivious Driver in Downtown Port Angeles
Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 21st, an oblivious low-IQ motorist was barreling toward a crosswalk where two people and their dog were halfway across First Street (in the crosswalk). Here's a helpful hint for the aforementioned not-too-bright individual: When you're driving toward a crosswalk that's presently occupied, you're supposed to use your brakes. NOT the horn.

Dan McKeen Hopes to Become Permanent City Manager
Interim City Manager Dan McKeen, who replaced outgoing City Manager Kent Myers, has applied for the permanent position of City Manager. As of this past Saturday, there have been twenty-one applicants for this position.
Unlike some previous city managers who moved to Port Angeles in order to take the job of city manager, Dan McKeen has lived in Port Angeles for the past 26 years.

Cavernous Void Under Rt. 101 in Downtown Port Angeles
There is a cavernous "void" underneath the number one northbound lane of Lincoln Street, just south of First Street. Traffic officials have closed this lane and are detouring traffic.
